Deciding wether or not to put in a 2.0 or not first thing is, are all 2.0 redtops? and is it best to put the 16v or 8v in,

Also a list of parts im going to need to get it in and going was thinking of buying a cavy or cally 2.0 as a donour car and taking brakes engine ect out would that be the easiest way?

not all 2.0's are redtops

c20xe aka redtop 150bhp
x20xev - later engine with ecocrap stuff 134bhp
c20seh - 8valve 130bhp
c20ne - 8valve 115bhp

8valves are cheaper and can be more reliable, but less power

i guess its a x12xe atm, there harder to rewire i think

just go for the usual retop, but make sure its a good one first

you will need

engine with ecu/loom
gearbox
driveshaft/cv joints
engine mounts
different rad fan i think

If your doing it yourself Matt, make sure you have everything you'll need. A mate of mine did his without the correct parts and tools. It took him 3 days.

Preparation is the key

Car wise you'll need an Astra GTE, GSI, Cav 2.0 16 valve, Calibra 2.0 16 valve.

You'll need mounts, exhaust welding up, or a decent system putting on it. Bigger brakes (off the 2.0 car you get the engine out of) Also, some C20Xe's came with a larger bottom pulley to drive the alternator and power steering. IIRC You need to change that for the single v belt type, because it's thinner.

Oh yeah, you'll need to mod the bulkhead aswell to fit it in.

I haven't got a clue about wiring though.

The bulk head needs some smacking back with a hammer or a piece of it chopping out. The power steering can be used. You need to buy the adapter plate so it sit further back, and a smaller belt.
