I think its down to the respect they earn. I've always had a hard time obeying CSOs since they all appear to be power hungry jobsworths, but that may be my personal experience. I can only imagine if a 16 year old attempts to confiscate alcohol off a gang of 19 year olds they're going to get laughed at.

I imagine the 16 year olds in question are the sort of kids you used to know at school who got bullied most of their life and when they were in 6th form went on a power trip, used to bum rape the teachers and tell younger kids to tuck their shirts in etc. Does them no favours.

I got ID'd earlier as I don't look 25 This is two days after seeing two 15 year olds getting served in my local. Takes the piss......although these instances are in no way related....I just love ranting

I don't see them being 16 as a problem, they'll be trained the same as any other age group would, and probably be less cocky when they're being taught.

It's not like they're going to be alone on the beat either, is it?

Fucking joke imo. Most of the general public don't know the difference between the Police and CSO's. Having a couple of kids who look like they've found a dressing up box out on the streets is not sensible or safe. Fair play to the individuals concerned for having the guts to do it but as a Policy decision it sucks.

Good point, Never crossed my mind. Also, Who the hell is going to know there 16 when there talked to or whatever? The force must think there mature enough
