MOT due in october and one of my track rod ends desperatly needs doing, I have bought the spares for £10 each Going to the girlfriends house tomorrow to gain access to her dads old tools he used in the army so i have ALOT to chose from.

Is there any special way of changing them? I got told to count how many turns it takes to get the old one off and then screw the new one on with the same amount of rotations. Or use tip-ex to mark a line were to screw the new ones up. I realy dont have alot of money so trying to do things on the cheap.

I know tracking might be £15-£20 but if i can avoid spending that then its a bonus tbh.

Any help appreciated, Thanks

They can be easy, but they can alse be a total pain in the arse if they're old and crusty.

Big spanners wedged against the suspension to hold the steering rods will help no end. Also don't forget to make a note of where the TRE was screwed up to on the rack.

Done both sides btw, i used the how many rotations it took for the old one to come off and counted the rotations putting the new one on. Dont need to have tracking done and the cars steering is a whole lot better!

Get the tracking checked anyway as it will 90% likely be out.
