Im thinking about smoothing my rear tailgate on my Corsa B

how ever what is the best way to do it....

i ve seen on ebay fiberglass 'Skins' which seem alrite or is it better to weld bits in?


feeback would be good

Id stay away from the skins tbh, best get it welded up across the inset.

I ve had a few people say their good and time saving? but on the other hand one of my mates had rust behind it and it got alot worse!!!

have you welded yours?

Yep mines welded.

Them panels are far to flimsy and usually end up rippling.

mine is a fibreglass skin, has been on for about a year, i dont use the boot much but it has started to crack around the bottom edge now, if i was to do it again it would be welded.

Was done on the car when i had it but there was a tiny bit of surface rust along the bottem edge so ive stripped it all back and redone it all.

The hardest part was cutting the sheet metal for the inset.

how thin are they i ve never seen one in the flesh?

Yes you can badboy the boot but imo i think it looks awful.

dunno how thin they are mate sorry, i bought a full boot off ebay in primer for £60 with one on.

im 50-50 if it has a nice curve i think its alrite but if its str8 looks odd... me bein fussy

weld it. I had mine done and glad i did as over time it would have cracked from general wear and the sub. Would have cost more in long run
