Going along the dual carriage way and then put foot down and no power at all. No EM light either. Lucky was near the slip road so was pulling off and the car juddered and the speedo went up and down, and still no power. Pulled off the road and the car was smoking Jumped out and it was coming from low down. Checked oil and was bone dry Thing is the smell from the smoke smelt plasticy Got some oil and filled it up, but when i went to start the car, it wouldn't. Still got power etc as CD player still worked as did everything else. Am i correct in thinking that the started motor may have burnt out?

tried jump starting it but nothing so am i correct in thinking i need a starter motor? How much aswell?

the starter motor going wouldnt explain the loss of power would it ??

think no oil would explain that

Bump starting it and it was fine. Going to try a new battery in a while before getting a starter motor

I wouldn't have thought it would be the battery if it won't jump start.

Does sound like starter motor tho.

Reading back from past threads this morning and Mav had the exact same problem i did. His didn't jump start but replaced it with a new battery and then it was fine. Battery was just knackered. Said it was charged but wouldn't start. We will see though
