and I sent the V5 off... (this was in June)

NOW...

The owner came round today, he's been unable to tax the car (he went the DVLA office) as apparently they never recieved the V5 from me, and they wouldn't accept the green Transfer of Sale slip which he has. They also charged him £25 for the privilege and for getting him the logbook.

He came round mine now demanding £25 and 'loss of earnings' due to this. I just said the green slip CAN be used to tax a car at the post office, I've done it before, and as for the £25 charge, all I can find on DVLA doesn't correspond to a £25 charge for transfering the vehicle to a new owner.

So what the hell do I do now?? Other than ring the useless welsh muppets on Monday to give them a good ear bashing??

Firstly, he should be able to get a tax disc with the green slip.

Also, he can send the green slip off to the dvla with a completed V62 form to get a new V5 for free.

right I checked the DVLA site...

They SHOULD of taxed the car, according to the site the V5C/2 is fine and perfectly acceptible

ALSO the £25 fee SHOULD BE WAIVED as its a transfer of sale, and the original docs were not recieved by the DVLA.

I've printed the info, and will present it to the guy shortly.
