I personally don't have a problem with the children that are outperforming the native children, even when they don't speak the language, recieving the same level of prospects. If you're willing to work to stay here then you deserve a fair crack at the whip.

Not read the whole thing but that pisses me off. Why should they get fees waived if they have been in school for 3 years? Theres families that struggle send there kids to school but dont get as much help as that.

And if they are outperforming Scottish kids in school there must be something going wrong

I prefer to see people in education than begging on the streets or working crap jobs. It's better that they are trying to do something with thier lives isn't it. If they were just recieving the money for nothing then it would be wrong.

well it annoys the crap out of me seen as im having to loan 6 grand a year odd to try and get through uni, with the new tuition fee's.

although thats in sctoland so..... still every one should get the same treatment.

fair enough if they want to get a good education and get a decent job i agree, but why do they get there fee's waived when other people are trying to do the same thing but have to pay all the fee's.

they should just get loans like the rest of us,

you dont pay if your a resident of scotland, fair enough, annoying but you know.

But thats takes the piss if they have only been there for 3 years shows this country is bollocks tbh.

same as ssj_kakarot, but also I've pretty much been shafted by the student housing thing too.

As I'm not a foreign national, I have to 'wait' till the start of september to get somewhere to live. Where I was I got 'booted' out so some foreigner could move in, and regardless that I didn't have anywhere to live they still said 'come back in september blah blah' talk about racist

So I'm now roughing it on my nans sofa until then, but what gets me is if it was the other way round, kicking out foreigners for room for british student, imagine the outcry! yet the other way round its fine...

fucking pc gone mental if you ask me...

If your a resident of scotland you get it free, but if i decided to move tehre it wouldnt be free cause ive not been there all my life

Them being there 3 years is the equivalent of them having been a resident all their life and being entitled to teh same benefits

A friend of mine moved to Scotland a few years back. He gets free tuition and other benifits for personal reasons.

If I was being cynical I might suggest that the financial benefits are only there because the asylum children are doing well. Therefore they are coming in with better grades, therefore they are more likely to stay on and succeed, therefore the universities look better because their data is better, therefore they are more attractive to funding agencies so get more income.

So there is a business case for picking your students. I don't for one moment think anyone is doing it to ensure that everyone is treated equally and fairly. Its just business.

but give the same chance to someone (being a non-immigrant) who cant afford it/doesnt get teh same benefits and im sure they would see it as an opportunity to succeed.
