yeah think splitter lights might have to be changed somehow? and yeah normally the inlet pipework goes right accros the back of the engine, this way its loads shorter therefore loads cooler air

why didnt i think of just bunging the filter on to the throttle body, thats a top idea, did you just extend the inlet temp sensor wire? how did you connect the filter on? because it has to connect on to the lower side of the throttle body... bit tight no?

yawn!!! this subtle (almost standard)approach is starting to get a bit boring imo

Ive been thinking of fitting a filter directly onto the tb on mine for a while now, its very tight for space tho.
So a 90deg pipe on the tb with a filter on the end on the right hand side should work, as in those pics. Just extend the intake temp sensor wires and fit the sensor in your new inlet pipe.
The standard plastic pipe is entirely stupid, and goes to a very narrow bore in its centre, removing it should give a nice power gain, and improve throttle response.
Does look a very tidy car that, can you get any pics of the type of pipe used on the tb to fit the filter?

That's a great idea, except if you have the brake assist thing in the way...then you have to leave it on the other side....

It does work to some extent, I think Dave A actually saw some good results from it on project V-sport when it had the original x14xe engine, but I would say a mantzel or similar is the best option, as altough the above setup shortens the inlet tract, it probably isnt the best place for cool air flow

You should see some power increase, as theres a lot less restriction(the engine isn't sucking through a straw)
Without that plastic pipe, the standard inlet is not too bad imo, nice straight runners.

Had a look at mine today and looks like theres more work involved in moving the filter than it looks like
Still going to give it a bash though just need to find an oil breather and some suitable pipe which will bend 180 degree's.

im back! moving the filter was a bit tricky but worth it as was free! sounds good flat out 2, power gains were minimal really but like i say this was free and im skint so proper inlets arnt possible. any1 got any other ideas on what to do next? oh iv painted the 'ecotec' engine cover met black tday which i like!!

I made up some kits to do the filter onto the TB idea ages ago, but never did much with them.
Dan-h has one on his, seems to work really well. really helps throttle response more than anything else.

so is there anything else i can do to get a bit more out then?
