got a car in for insurance work. car is worth around £5500

total estimated repair bill comes to £4400

will they write it off or pay for the repairs? I cant be arsed with all the waiting round waiting for them to get back to me to authorise repairs etc... so I might start work stripping it all down but wont bother if its likely to be written off as an uneconimical repair.

I think Steve said to me anything up to 60% of the cars value or something can be a write off. I'd imagine so. . .

. . .but, the repair on my car cost £1400ish after my excess, and it wasn't written off, baring in mind my cars worth didly-squat.

I'd wait to save waisting your time.

It says 60% though

"Most of them work on a principle that once the repair costs exceed roughly 60% of the car’s value, it is not worth repairing. "

Hence why it would be a write off because its 80% which is 20% over 60%
