finally had chance to sort the paintwork on the astra today.

Cleaned
Clayed
Cleaned again
Paint Cleaner
Polish
Sealer
Wax

So you didnt seal the wax after all that hard work?

seal before wax as the seal doesnt like going on top of the wax as it is too greasy

wont that just polish the clay off?

you don't keep clay on the car? you run it over a ''lubed up'' car to get off stubborn dirt etc

what ben said, you use clay to remove the tiny stubborn bits of dirt that you cant easily see but you can feel of you run your fingers over the paint.

so yes- you do clay before polish

paintwork is absolutely brilliant by the way

what does the paint cleaner do apart from the obvious? never used it before.

i'll have to have a go a that next time.

My mates just built a mini and has used a buffer on it, will that be in place o the clay?

just a slightly harsher polish i think really, but it does make polishing and waxing alot easiler if you paint clean beforehand

you use a buffer or do a machine polish to cut back the top coat a bit to remove swirl marks or paint imperfections
