Was on the motorway tonight when suddenly my sri had no power, i managed to get it down the slip road but it cut out and wouldn't start. I ended up having to get towed home by the AA, my head gasket has gone and the fan belt snapped.
The AA bloke reckons the head gasket alone will set me back £200+
Do I .....
A. Get the sri fixed?
b. Try and find a decent 1.6 8v engine and get that put in?
Waht would be the difference in cost with these at a garage?
Thanks everyone!

I was thinking the 8v because I really am very skint at the moment and I can't afford to do a big engine change

Yeah, drop a 1.6 8v in. JR is selling one, £150, everything needed is there.

Ignore people on this thread, as no-one has picked up that the fan is electrically controlled. You do not have a fan belt, that is old technology.
