My mates 1.0 engine has given up the ghost, how easy would it be to replace with a 1.4 8v hes found out of a merit, comes with loom, bo everything. Anything i should know about? mounts different?

its alot of work for 5bhp gain.

1.0 12v- 55bhp
1.4 8v - 60bhp

Hes not doing it for any kind of gain in power, he just needs an engine so he can drive around! only reason i ask about a 1.4 is because he has the oppertunity to get one cheap

The 1.4 uses different engine mounts and wiring. The ammount of work that would go in to doing it would be wasted, especially as the car would be hard to sell on in the general marketplace after.

New 1.0 it is, and tell him to not rev the fuck out of it as they are crap engines...
