Few anglers complain that their catch is too large - but the man who landed this monster has reason to feel a little disappointed.

The fish was so big that his scales were unable to weigh it, denying him a certain world record.

The Siamese giant carp slapped the men with its tail as they struggled to hold it. It was caught by Thai fisherman Kik (right)

The Thai fisherman, known as Kik (pictured right) was left to estimate that the Siamese giant carp weighed 256lb or 18st - 36lb more than his scales could bear.
The world record for any member of the carp family, which includes goldfish, is 88lb.
Kik's boss, Jean-Francois Helias, who runs fishing tours in Thailand, said: "He hooked the catch of a lifetime that some anglers would sell their soul to the devil for.
"It is the biggest carp ever caught on rod and line and kept slapping people with its tail."

w8 a sec... theres 14lbs to a stone

worlds biggest carp on record is 88lbs which is about 6.2 stone?

they estimate that the carp weigned around 256lbs or 18 stone... which is around 36lbs more than his scales could weigh... so lets say his scales took a maximum of 15 stone which is 42lbs less than 18 stone

surely he should have his record because its clearly over the previous record of 6.2 stone/88lbs, or have they not gave him it because he couldnt get an exact weight?

or am i just missing something.

P.S im waiting for a reply from you drunkenfool about the holders. im getting some sent to me in next few days.

marklaruk, your missing the point that his scales couldn't weigh it, meaning they couldn't get an official figure

18st and two feable-ass weak skinny men holding it without showing any strain and still managing to strike a pose???

Look at the lighting reflecting back... its way too smooth and the scales look to 1-D... fake!!!!!

yeah first thing i thought, 18 stone is quite heavy, for 2 seeemily averaged strength people to hold it up without any sign of strain is odd.

The previous record 88lb was a common carp, not a Siamese carp which are a different species all together.
