With HSBC, been doing a 3 year degree but i've repeated a year so my bank need to extend my student account.
Went down yesterday and they said that the Student Loan Final Notification, which basically tells them what money im going to be getting isn't good enough to prove that i'll be studying next year and to get a letter from the Uni confirming
So i phoned the uni and spoke to someone who could barely speak english and they said they would fax through confirmation
Just took it down "it has to be an original", a fax isn't good enough. It had everything on, even an official stamp from the uni, it's not like i'm taking out a mortgage or anything, i don't think i even had to take proof that i was going to be a student when i opened the account

they keep giving me loads of excuses
my account is in poor condition (BOTH been in credit for over a year now and no longer have an overdraught)
too late applying
dont believe the confirmation from uni (like you) EVEN with an actual letter & not faxed copy
think I'm forging the student loans forms, even though they can clearly see I have had 2 years worth of payments from the SLC...
bunch of cocks

I used to be with HSBC, they are total and utter shite. Plus they have useless call centres in India (I would rather speak to someone from the UK that doesn't sound like they are talking in a phone on the moon or something).

I moved to Halifax & the have been ace the whole time ive been with them, gave me raised overdraft when I asked for it, non-student credit card (even though I was a FT student with no income at the time) when I asked for it, even offered me a sizable personal loan to buy a new car - which I turned down

Natwest seemed to offer the best student accounts when i was doing it at the time.
Always used Natwest, HSBC closed my account for no reason
