It all fits into a bigger picture. The decent firms (ie those that don't advertise 'graduate' roles as a way of getting cheap labour) know exactly what they're looking for and they want a whole range of people and skills.
thats what im trying to say, business is too broad a subject, i barely did anything and got a 2:1, compared to the amount my mates do in their engineering degrees and stuff, i think busiess is too broad a subject, i went for a banking job assessment centre last week and there was an applicant with a history and french degree

to get a job in business you dont need to do a business degree at all. i'm doing an internship this summer and most of the people i have spoken with seem to be from a history or english background. Obviously taking business will help as you will have some background knowledge but it isnt essential even at the top firms. you only really need specific degrees for jobs like denistry etc

nationwide building society, didnt pass the assessment centre was gutted, 5th and final stage too :/
they were really selective tho, she said 1300 applied, then after passing the online numerical/verbal tests there was 200 odd that were invited to the 1st stage interview, then about 110 had attended assessment centres since january, for 20 ish places in total, the retail branch network scheme i was applying for maybe had about 2-4 places...not too sure

Still a worthwhile experience though mate. So long as you learn from it then you'll be better at the next one.

All the people who have done business who I have met seem to be the most fuking boring people in the world. I know a lot of people who do business too as I go to Aston. They also spend all thier money on books. I spend my money on beer and felt tip pens oh, and posh paper too
