to cut a long story short, had a shit time with the new alternator, had to strip both down to replace the centre shaft as the drive for the oil pump was too big on the new one. SO yes i was pissed off at this point AND rushing, the wire on the back of the alternator was corroded to fuck and snapped when i took it off, put a new connector on it and as i tightend it up it moved round and touched the alternator housing so as soon as the batt went back on plumes of white smoke everywhere and a goosed battery loom

live and learn i suppose. but i really cant be fucked to even repair the piece of shite now

ah well mate shit like this happens, and you have to remember that the car is about 10 years old. Things are going to need replacing. I work for an insurance company doing breakdown cover, and I can assure you that plenty of cars less than 3 years old breakdown! I would keep it mate and just fix it, looks awesome!

cheers mate, i know i have to fix these new pieces of shite that vauxhall keep making every day. i think its time to sell and turn to petrol power. just out of interest, what would the insurance company do about a melted loom? write the car off?

probably not, but its not worth claiming for. You could get one cheap enough from ebay or from a local breakers yard. If you fancy turning to petrol, it may be worth looking into a conversion as your corsas bodywork is mint!
