I work in a pub at the weekends and have been asked by my boss to start a quiz on a Friday night...
What sort of questions are usually used and how many?
and what sort of prizes should be given out?
Help!

our local does like 60 questions:
picture round (10 pics of people, guess the names usually celebs etc)
read all about it (current news questions)
2 x top 5 (2 questions like:name the 5 eastenders stars who also have received rear of the year award from fhm)
then a 10 questions round where the last letter of the previous answer is the first letter of the next - general questions
whats in common: 4 questions then extra point for what links all the answers. e.g. 4 scot celebs = link is scottish
final round - wipeout. 10questions again just general. if you get them all right then you get 5 extra points, but get one wrong and you get 0 for the round. blank answers dont count as wrong! so the catchp[hrase - when in doubt leave it out!
they do 50p entry per person. prizes are a bit shit tho - drinks vouchers. say 4 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for third.
Thats what we do at our local; the Highwayman Pub. Yorkshire.

50p per person means you'll make more money.
Make sure you check all the questions you ask. I've been to quizzes in the past where the caller gives the answer out and gets heckled back because they're wrong.
Especially risky if you're downloading them off the internet I would imagine.
