I did a course with them, really good facilities, massive workshop at Silverstone, great lecturers.
If you live too far away, they have halls of residence in a nearby town.

Im doing an BEng at brunel in this. Unless you like maths dont do it. I fucking hate it and i thought that it would be the one thing that i would like to do at uni. Havent done anything practical in 2 years
Other unis may be different though

I'd agree with the maths comment
Bending moments were the general theme for the course

Do you do hands on practical stuff at Brunel Hamish?
With the NC4M course, you get to take cars apart and rebuild them

I think if you can cope with the maths you are better of with a Mechanical Engineering degree rather than a specific motorsport degree. Will give you more scope for employment when you finish your degree and you can always tailor your degree by selecting units that suit a motorsport environment anyway. This is what i'm doing, starting a 4yr MEng in Mech Eng in Oct at Southampton uni

The thing with the motorsport ones is they find placements for you at the end of the course
I didn't finish my course as I am shit at maths.

Robin: I havent seen an engine in two years...the whole time ive been there. Apart from the one sitting in my garage.
My course is tittled motorsport engineering, but in reality it is a mech eng course which specisiles in the final year.
You can do a placement if you want to to make contacts.
Be prepared to put in alot of work, i didnt and have failed year two

Ok i got an A at GCSE, A Distintion in higher maths in a National diploma, and im still struggling like a cunt.
There wont me much difference. You will cover the same modules in the first couple of years them you will specify in the final year with race materials, aerodynamics etc etc.

depends on how practically orientated the course is. Do some research on it. I wish that i hade chosen a more practical course. Try and talk to the people from the course as they will give you a realistic view

im doing a BEng in Motorsports Engineering at UWE down in bristol. just finished my 1st year.
the course varies so much depending on what uni you go to. some focus on the practical side whereas other uni's will focus on the theory and all the maths physics and shit. generally the motorsport courses that need the fewer points to get in the course tend to be more practical based and vice versa.
the course at my uni is really really theory based and well the 1st year was pretty boring and hard just filled with enuuufffff maths and that but it is pretty interesting.
the 1st year of motorsport engineering is very basic as it just builds up the underlying knoledge of basic engineering so its pretty much the same as mechanical engineering say, just with a few different modules maybe and some practicals with specialzed material in it.

I've just done a foundation degree in Motorsports at Myerscough college just north of Preston. It involved a lot of practical work on cars and also there was a lot of theory work to do with the complete running of a motorsports team/organisation. I have gained a lot of experience with racing cars over the last 2 years, through the course I have had the oppurtunity of going away with the college at weekends and running two Formula Fords in the British championship. Through this I now feel I have the oppurtunity to get a job in the industry.
Lol... just read what I've wrote and I might copy and paste it as it could be part of a covering letter which would accompany my CV
