after lett ing me dad try fix me alternator as i was in a massive stress, he's decided to snap the plastic fake nut off the larger terminal which insulates the battery wire and stops it shorting.

just as ive gone out to connect the battery my car nearly set on fire. smoke everywhere etc!

can i just use any old plastic bung etc to insulate it?
