took the nova out for a proper spin..

dead battery after 10 minutes and it cut out. I then had to sit in the middle of nowhere for 2 hours waiting to get towed home.

alternators on the blink but i really dont get why, all wired up properly and came off the old engine.

ideas?

As above.
Check the alternator earth cable on the adjuster bracket.

Do you not have a voltage gauge so you can see what its charging at?
