Iirc, coolant warms up twice as quickly as oil does.
So when the coolant reaches normal temp, double that and the oil should be at normal temp.

So if my temp gauge is at 90 this doesnt necessarily mean the oil is warm yet?

I am totally the same. But i let it take over for about 2-3 mins before i drive. generally in a morning mine takes about 10 mins to get there and on the way home about 7, but i dont give it any throttle at all in a morning i dont go above 60 as i am obsest with letting the engine get up to temp!

I use to be like it with the race spec ped! But it makes your car last longer. My ped did 16000 of full throttle miles over taking cars on the a52 and it still runs sweet as a nut. You would never no my corsa has done over 100k when you listen to it and i think this is what does it.

thats cause they do tap, so do vtrs, fiesta's tap from the factory the old ones, my vts has a cooler as standard anyway, but still, i leave it about ten seconds when i turn it on to get the oil pressure up, then its fine to drive normally..

it is only a corsa, but when someone has spent 1k++ on the engine you treat it with more respect. I changed my oil every 3,000 miles and never went over 3k until the oil was warm because i didnt want to fucker my rebuilt 20XE.

it shouldnt fuk up though willay, changing the oil fair enough, thats looking after it, not driving above 2k or leaveing it to get warm is a bit anal as long as it has oil pressure it wont make any difference really.

Having no water in it did more harm than beating it about with cold oil TBH, even that didn't actually kill it.

On a Corsa engine as most people say, killing it from cold will have very little effect, tolerances are massive and the engines are underpowered and low stressed. Rag it from cold in something like a Subaru, Evo, TVR, RX7 etc or a tuned car and I gaurantee the engine life will be decreased.
