When I go to uni im going to buy something cheap for a runaround like a 106 diesel or similiar, will I have to insure it on a seperate policy. If possible I wouldnt like to have to pay out on two seperate policies. How are other people insuring second cars?

I'm having this problem at the moment. Is it illegal to have two policies though?

What happens if you earn bonus on one and lose it on the other?

Its not illegal, ncb is built up on each policy seperate. not sure what happens if you claim on either, i imagin it would affect both!

Yeah you earn it on both and although you technically wouldn't lose it you would still have to declare if you had an accident.

Read my thread about Admiral, they're definately worth trying. They'll normally duplicate a bit of bonus which helps if you're starting fresh on the second car.

Surely it can't be cheaper to buy, tax, insure, run a 106 diesel than it is to just use the 106 rallye.

You would be suprised.

Me and Rach bought the Corsa GSi as we were using nearly £50 a week on fuel in the Astra and that was Rachel just using it for work.

Now we have the GSi the insurance was paid out right and only cost £300, then it already had 12 months MOT and tax on it and it only costs her a tenner a week back and forth to work.

I know its not going to be cheaper! I already said that. I cant see myself driving a track biased 106 rallye to and from uni and I dont like the thought of leaving it parked outside where it could be nicked or keyed etc

When I had both the Astra and the Calibra I had two seperate policies from Privilege, got a discount too on the car with no NCB on it (they gave me a price as if it had 1 yr NCB).
