"Her mate has the last registered lotus one in the uk"
Reads that her mate has the last remaining registered Sunbeam Lotus in the UK.
Its not a case of understanding a sentance, it a case that some people can't write a basic sentance....
Anyway...as far as I am aware, the last SL to be registered belonged to Des O'Dell former Sunbeam Competitions Manager, and is now in the motor museum at Gaydon. So I still believe its bullshit.

Ok...tbh i mean that it was one of the last registered ones, not the last one on the road. i know that there is more than one of these cars on the road
Ok you may be right, but this Is still an A registered car, which does make it one of the last does it not?

Yep...it does make it one of the last, definatley.... but there at least 1 B around....
Taken from SLOC:
"A handful of cars did still remain unsold at dealers until the "A" prefix was introduced in August 1983, and at least one car even went unsold until the "B" arrived"
But it could be the last registered thats still on the road...

Because it's sacriledge Hamish, plain and simple.
If you cut the roof off a standard Sunbeam it would be a very bad thing to do.
If it was damaged and rusty but had a good roof and you were removing it to save a Lotus that would be a mitigating circumstance and would make some sense.
BUT, removing the roof FROM a Lotus is a completely different kettle of fish. That is an action that should be avoided at all costs.
It's just wrong wrong WRONG.
It's a bit like getting yourself castrated because you're fed up with scratching your nuts.
You wouldn't chuck the Mona Lisa in the bin if someone threw paint over it.

It's not because they're shite, it's because that's how it used to be done
Loads of older cars are like it.
