Im guessing my thermostat has gone, cars running hotter than usual and dont think my fan is kicking in.
How much am I looking at for a new one? Is dingbro any cheaper than vauxhall?
Also are they kinda tricky to fit? on a 1997 1.2 8v
Thanks

The thermostat is behind the cambelt IIRC on the drivers side of the block.

Read the haynes manual and they said remove the timing belt cover, although after doing a search on ehre alot of people say to remove the top cambelt pulley and some other bits althoug I couldnt find any post about a thermostat on a 1.2 8v

You need to take off the cambelt cover and undo the top pulley and move out of the way.. Making sure to NOT LET THE CAMBELT SLIP AT ALL - Best to get somone to hold it for you. Then undo the thermostat and replace. Put back together. Took me 15 mins on my cousins. You may need to slacken off one of the tensioners.

Dont fancy tampering with the cam belt though, thats the only thing. Did you drain the coolant, or is that haynes manual talk?

That's the way I did it on my cousins. Ran fine afterwards. We just replaced it quick and topped up the coolant after we'd done. If your not confident, I'd get a garage to do it.
