I have owned 1 and driven lots. most are rubbish.
I would much prefer a mk1 106 with a 16v engine in. much quicker and better handling for less than the cost of the xe conversion. (the car and 16v conversion that is)

think you got me wrong with the term 'rubbish'. I dont think the cobination of a corsa and a c20xe is rubbish but most I have driven are 'rubbish' because they are usually not built well and have shitty suspension and brake setups and feel all loose and floppy.
there is a lot of good ones out there though, I have driven a few that are well set up and really really good.
however, in my opinion a 2 litre corsa is all about fun, its not a luxurious or comfotable car, thats not what they are built for, and saying that if I wanted fun I would build a mk1 pug 106 16v, can build one for less than a c20xe conversion would cost, dirt cheap to insure, faster, handle better, more fun.

Constantly talk of selling mine to buy something more grown up but cant bring myself to do it, to much fun sitting on the motorway pulling away from bmw's and the like
Had plenty of problems with mine due to a bad engine (bought from a member here) put a new one in last week and its mint now.
Can we not have a 106 forum on here so everyone who sits on CS but masterbates over 106s can go in there and give the rest of us a break from them in every fuckin thread

as AK he spent loads on his corsa and still thought the almost standard 205 was better round the track lol
So you could say a Peugeot was a better handling car?

EVERY THREAD ON THIS FORUM STEVE HAS TO POST SOMETHING ABOUT PEUGEOT
Lets talk about the new Peugeots shall we Steve?
Wind your neck in Steve, it got boring a long time ago.

i love mine too.well sometimes.i brought mine cheap with problems.now although i have nearly sorted those problems it still does my head in a bit.nut then when i drive it i love it.love the way it suprises other people.mine handles fine too.the inly thing that is wrong with it at the moment is that it's not fast enougth.but thats because i have got used to it.all in all though i would much rather have my corsa than a 106/saxo because they feel more well built.

absoloutly love mine it handles excellent is set up well on spax suspension the v6 brakes stop it very well too.
its also very reliable not had many problems 1 snapped hub and 1 snapped cv joint nothing major.
i have had alot of performance cars from novas to porsche's and unfortunately jap crap and the xe corsa wins all day long and the xe nova comes a close second but just didnt seem to cope with the power as good ie handling was fun tho trying to keep the fooker pointing forward

It'll always be front heavy, so will understear if pushed, but then again, what FWD car doesn't overstear when pushed too hard?
As said, its just "fun." This is what I love about it compared to a fancy sports car. Fancy sports cars work, you can chuck them into the bends and they will turn at most speeds without worry.
With the corsa, the brakes are skittish, its a bit wobbly, it pulls you all over the place under acceleration. You have to put some serious driver input into the car and getting it round a bend. I like driving, doesn't matter if its fast, but if its pushing the car to its limits, its enough.
TEll me anyone here ever who has really pushed a porsche etc to its real limits?
Obviously i'd rather have a better car, but £ for BHP, its a great little toy.
Wouldn't wanna pickup a lady in it anymore, and am highly embarrased to say I have a corsa at my age to people, but once I explain why, people usually understand.
Yes theres better other cars that handle better and are nearly as fast, but they just arn't as fun to me.
