Had 3 job interviews over the last week, and all have come back and made offers
One offered 17k, and decided I was going to stay at my current job to see if anything changes. Rang the companies that offered to say i was going to stay so one came back and said ok we'll offer you 20k to come work for us
Bear in mind im only on 14.5k at the moment that is a hell of a hike in salary and is no further from my place anyway.
Need to decide in the next week what to do. Seems like an easy choice but first impression of the company wasn't great, oh well.

go back to your current company and say to them that your not trying to play them off each other but the difference between 17k and 20k is too hard to turn down, even though you would prefer to work for them.
If they want to keep you then they may offer a bit more, 18-19k maybe which would soften the blow at turning down 20k!!

If the company is small enough (the one offering 20k) Perhaps you could influence alot of change in it and help to bring it forward (producing evidently higher status for yourself in that new company etc)

if money is the main objective then take a punt, go sit down with your current boss and tell him how it is, someone has offered muchos more cash and to keep you they will need to match it.

infact you wont even have to ask them to match it, if you are worth your salt they will go bananas and ask how much they are offering etc and try to match it

tiesto - out of interest, what are the companies? and are you going in as a cad technician, or a highway technician, as they can be very different things depending on the company

true but you dont work in a shite job that you cant stand for a bit of extra money. i know that id prefer to earn slightly less but come home from work happy rather than stressed and down all the time.

Update.
Discussed the offer of 20k with my current company and they have offered 18.5k to stay. Which i ahve accepted as will cost about an extra 1.5k a year for parking etc at the other place.
That's the end of that then.

20k is not enough for relocation though imo
