Lambda sensor.

Try some of that fuel addative that halfords sell and give it a blast to clean everything out.

Top quality fuel, bit of engine cleaner, go take it for a proper blast to clear some shit out. Give it another go.

The coolant temp sensor made my emission high on my 1.6. Not sure if this has one though.

Probably won't work.. I had the same problem, got fucked around by three garages and spent £400 in total. It was just the Lambda sensor that needed replacing, but they replaced loads of stuff that didn't need doing. I got a new Lambda for about £100 fitted and that was fine.

I would take it to a DECENT garage and let them diagnose what the actual problem is & what's causing it
