Apparently this was before disc brakes were invented or something
Not that i condone speeding in 30/40's as its really not worth the risk.

I hate those adverts... load of crap... Depends hugely on the car/tyres/driver/conditions etc etc.
Mr X with his remoulds and 200mm brake discs might aswell not brake but what about Mr Z with his Goodyears and 4-pots all round...

Correct, Driving Standards Agency or what ever their name is are using data that was compiled in the 60's & 70's for braking distances which is absolutely pathetic.

TBH i dont really speed espcially in built up area's where kids are know to be dicks and walk about.. i hardly exceed over 40 in a 30. It's pointless.

Didn't Max pooer do a test on this.
I think they used a Ford Anglia and a Focus. The anglia was an average car for the time braking distances were done. The Focus stopped well short IIRC.

Think ill be getting some of these soon! last night 12.05 am going far to fast for a 40 limit but it wasnt dangerous due to the road being straight and no one around but for the first time ever there was a camera van on the side of the road (when it starts to open up) with what appeard to be a laser box on a tri pod and the interior light of the van was on. Do these get mand or what? It sounds really irresponsible how quick i was going so aint told anyone....but the road is good enough and no - one around etc
