looking at getting one just wondered what the fuel consumption was like not ragging it about, and for 98 model whats the "ideal milage" the one i have seen is just over 100k do they start to go wrong soon after or what?

sorry for the questions just iv had some sheds in past and want tio make sure i get something fairly decent as i do roughly 300 mile a week and its my only mode of transport to work no busses trains etc.

100k is high milage IMO, i used to get 320 to a tank with normal driving. for a 98 model 100k is good! its a 1998 car so 9 years old! expect to see rust on the tail gate.

mate just sold my old one- 98 on 62k millage for £1950

you can find lower milage ones similar to my old one quite cheap, i personally would not want anything over 70k unless it has a seamless service history.

used to get 350 miles to a tank with the dbilas inlet fitted- cruising 30mph in 5th gear

i know its average millage, but it doesnt mean to say its going to be alright matey.

you can almost gaurantee at that millage it will need a load of parts replacing- bushes, wheel bearings, probably brakes amongst a load of other things that will be tired too.

also the X16XE is known for its not great lifespan depending on how hard it has been treated, so piston rings and valve stem oil seals may need doing in the near future.

dont buy the first one you see mate, better to wait a bit and save an extra couple of hundred notes to get a better one.

i will keep an eye out for you and have a chat with you at the meeting on sunday about it
