As Some of you may know, the timing belt tensioner gave way just after I'd fitted a rebuilt C16XE head...was annoyed.

The mechanic next door then gave me a replacement head, But I haven't a clue what it is...C16 or Xx16?

I distantly remember something about 5 raised dots on the front of the X16 one, and only 3 on the C16...is this right?

get a ruler and measure the inlet ports.

I noticed the exhaust ports are smaller on the c16 than the x16...should that be so??

X16 head has like cast webbing bits near the spark plug holes..
C16 doesn't.

I can also confirm Robin and the Warren G thread

I have seen 2 C16XE heads (both from L-reg GSi's) with identical part numbers, but 1 with webbing, the other without..

Also worth to note, the one without webbing only had 3 notches above the exhaust ports, yet the one with had 5

all ports were measured the same.

One of the part no#'s were R4-something-900-186 ...i think, the other head was the same except the end no# was 187, and the other was 186, but didnt have the 'R' in front o fthe part no.

I suppose I could go and ask vauxhall what part#'s were given to each type of head?
