its because your practically taking steriods :/

i don't think any less of you. its just i dont agree with all this taking "stuff" to motervate yourself. Admittedly i have days down the gym were i'm not feeling 100% energy wize. But i just get on with it, and make sure i eat the right things (to a degree) after.

practically taking steroids?

sorry but how are food supplements in anyway connected to steroids?

steroids are synthetic derivatives of the male sex hormone testosterone, how is consuming protein, oats and taurine practically taking steroids?

using the generally accepted rule of 1g of protein per 1lb of bodyweight a 200lb bodybuilder needs at least 200 grams of protein per day. Thats around 6 cans of tuna, you try eating that in a day, everyday. or its a shit load of eggs again very difficult to even stomach or have the time to eat/prepare it if you work full time.

This is where protein supplementation comes in, its a quick and convinient way to get the protein your body is crying out for when trying to pack on muscle mass.

The best i can do with normal food in a day is probably 90-100 grams of protein. I get the remaining 100grams from one shake with breakfast, one pre workout and another at bedtime. I simply dont have the time, means to get 200 grams of protein from food alone due to work commitments, inconvienience etc.

over the last 10 years i have seen guys train their ass off and hardly ever pack on any weight, simply because their nutrition is not up to scratch. sure they eat healthy but the calories/protein is not there.

NEVER underestimate how much fuelling your body needs to grow, or youll be a chump not a champ.

eat big, get big, train hard and heavy its a simple formula.

I 100% agree with everything you say SetH - you only have to take 30 mins to read on muscletalk forum to realise that packing on any muscle is in fact a science knowing what to eat.

yes its all about science.

building a good body is bloody hard work, its not just sweat and pain in the gym its a 24 hour thing with regards to resting, nutrtion which includes a lot of planning.

If it were easy everyone would have a great physique, thats why every gym you go to only a handful of people make good progress.

Even for steroid users, the training & nutrition is just as important. steroids are not muscle in a bottle, you still have to get everything else spot on or you wont grow, simple.

And yes, supplements should ony be taken to fulfil the quota. As sometimes i just get full up of eating so much (even of the good food stuffs) you have to use supps.

Maybe i was wrong to buy Taurine, but i just wanted to try it. Creatine and Protein has been proven and i have read into the subject a lot.

The Steroid comment - go and read some muscletalk forums first!

Id love to do a bodybuilding series, documenting a few peoples lives over the course of a year so joe blog public can see exactly whats involved and appreciate the work and sacrifices necessary to get a great physique. would certainly dispel a few myths anyway.

How long have you been training for SetH?

I have been going to the gym for years seeing no real improvement - because i didnt know what i was doing - just the normal people who just go to the gym use the machines and go; now i look at these people and feel sorry for them in a way that they haven't been advised better on a routine!

I started with a good regime, diet and rest from January this year and i have been keeping a spreadsheet of measurements, my weights and reps and until now i can see growth in cm's and i can compare photo's which i can see a big gain (not as much as i would like - i think the diet is to blame definately). I can also see an increase in weights used, but they have come to a flat at the moment.

But i am going to continue to bulk for another 6 months, then go on a cut.

I dont think that would be a good idea Seth. No doubt you'll get a few walking around with spastic lat sydrome after eating an omlette and a slice of wholemeal bread for breakfast because it's got protein in it, init

Anyone can train hard, a lot of its nutrition and preparing/eating the right things in a day when you have to work etc is hard, even eating proper on days off is hard..so things like this make it easier and iv gotta agree with seth

been training properly for 10 years now. before weight training used to surf, play football and do a lot of running. i was always around 11 stone. the last few years ive kinda stabilised at 15 stone and dont really carry much bodyfat. currently trying to rip up and drop to low 14`s for my holiday end of summer atm.

I have been very lucky with training in that i went to a hardcore gym at a young age and was taken under the wing of 60 year old ex competitive bodybuilder. This guy really knew his shit in an old school sense and beasted me. I learnt a lot from him and ive learnt the rest from sports science at uni and generally a lot of reading doing my own research.

ITs a learning game tbh, i know people in their 40`s been training all their lives and they say they are still learning.

and ROFL @ jake

It is a learning game, and people are always going to have conflicting opinions so the best way is to try some things and decide yourself!
