was thinking of getting a red top but due to my car getting a kick up the arse from an astra ive decided to get it fixed and flog it. Just wondering have people heard good or bad things about these cars as i dont no much about bmw's. It will most likely have about 120,000 miles, but ive heard bmw's are extremely durable.

Any feedback appreciated

520 may be a bit sluggish but i don't know what you want it for so you may not be bothered!

get an omega elite

cheaper, plenty of comfort, plus has indicators which do work on motorways/junctions/roundabouts unlike the majority of bmw's

They do 60 in near 11 seconds - a 1.4 sport could have one to 60, but the beemer is a cruiser and they look very posh! I would have one. And milage isnt an issue, just do the basic sevices and your fine like majority of cars really!

Slightly harder to insure than the lowest bmw 5 series which is only a group 14. Im now thinking along the lines of a 156 aswell. The 1.6 engine and 1.9 diesel get more positive feedback than the bigger engines though - cheaper on insurance i suppose, both are group 11.

2.5i V6 Omega is group 15, so the 2ltr will be less.

to be fair, i couldnt fault mine for the money. Only thing was the size of the engine + my right foot, meant hefty fuel bills

Fair enough, really swaying towards the 156 now for the looks of it, and cheap insurance.

I've got a BMW 325 SEi and its a cracking car. Only done 94k miles and 200bhp (on the rollers) but the one thing that I would say that they are pricey if they break. You can use Euro car parts for a lot of things but can be pricey if you are using specialists.

Personally, I'd go for the Omega or a Vectra if I was in the market. Having said that, I wouldn't swap a BMW for one.

Definately worth trying to get hold of a 525 rather than a 520 as the performance will be very sluggish/thirsty. If I could swap my 2.0 engine for a 2.5 I'd do it without hesitation!

2.0 is a bit slow and does like the gas, especially the Auto box. 2.5 is the choice.
