was driving home from work last nite and my gsi lost power and was misfiring and backfiring.
the bottom end is knocking as most of you mite no, will hopefully have an engine soon but need the car to run fine for atleast another month until i can have the engine changed.
any ideas peeps??

just checked spark plugs, they are all fine. done a diagnostic and got code 92 camshaft sensor, faulty hall effect sensor or circuit
any ideas????

if the bottom end is on its way out mate i doubt youl get another months driving. try changing the cam sensor and see if it runs better. sorry am no more help

any idea where the camshaft sensor is? it feels like its lost compression.

yours is a 1.6 16v right?
IIRC its behind the timing cover.

have took the sensor off and cleaned it up (it looked ok) think its the circuit thats faulty, but im no mechanic.
does any 1 no if the cam sensor was faulty, would the car feel like its loosing compression?
it only drives lumpy to start with then drives ok at higher speed
