Dont want to fill the boot with amps and subs, as it dont have much space.
Best way to improve bass, change speakers??
How much to spend and what speakers? I looked at the active sub Kenwood KSC-SW1 just to add a bit more umf but been told it would be pointless

try a infinity bass link T. basically 1 active 10" sub and 2 passive, 250wrms built in amp, very slim design and you will still retain boot space but you wont hinder sound quality trying to pump bass through your mid range speakers. I think they are £200 on www.caraudiosecurity.com.
Guys where i get mine done fitted one to a mitsi warrior today and it sounded very good and fitted behing the rear seats much to the customers suprise and he was very happy.
I have one in my car just with a different active sub so it's a bit deeper.

Why would it do that?
There is a fella out the back who had a JBL Bass Cannon fitted in the boot of an astra convertible.
They've fitted 2 Directed 12" subs in a merc convertible which was ridiculously loud.
