Anyone on here a fire man or know of any?

Ive been pondering over the idea of being a retained fireman, Ive applied for the recruitment pack.

Anyone know about the wage brackets and the training etc.. ??

well i dont know much but i read somewhere on an average firemans wage and the callouts they do will get is the equilivant of £6 for everytime you enter a house on fire

My mate's a fireman, recently passed his hgv too and has been driving the engine

Pay isn't great, the first hour of a call out is fixed, then you get a over time IIRC.

I would never drive the engine I know a lad who was based at croxteth fire station in liverpool who binned his engine into someone and killed him when on a blue lights call. He may be getting sent to prison for dangerous driving

I'm trying to get in full time at the moment.. Retained firefighter would be a ace if you live somewhere that is based nearby, I dont have that or I would have probably gone for that first.. Foot in the door so to speak..

Have to say the whole running into a burning building as people run out really appeals to me.. I think im wired up wrong.. lol
