Yep look for high voltage preouts, some alpines are 4v which is pretty good, dont scrimp on your headunit as this is the main source to your amplifiers, even if you have the best amps and speakers in the world a poor headunit will deliver a poor signal to your amps

I wanted an MP3 headunit years ago and I bought some panasonic one for £80, hooked up to my 2 amps, one for sub and one for my rainbow components. never will I buy a cheap headunit again as I swapped them over and the sound quality was like night and day. My alpine 9807 RB was a lot louder and crystal clear. I now have an Alpine 9853 R great unit but still that aint as good as the old 9807 RB was.

Amps will amp any signal from the headunit.

Headunit distorts, amps amplify that distortion, so sound is shit

the key is to set an amp through "Sub Out" turn all of the bass off on the head unit so the components dont distort.

simply have all of the bass through the sub.

but on every alpine Ive had the bass only comes through the subwoofer pre out, anyway deep bass shouldnt be coming from you components, there a mid bass speaker so play mid range frequencies. The alpine 9855 and 53 are a bit too complicated if you ask me, geometric and parametric equaliser settings, good thing is you can see what frequencies go to your mids(components) lows (sub) and highs (tweeters) so plenty of tuning scope for a bit more money.
