Something to do with us not having a big enough offline presence. We are a forum and not a club according to them.

The PNG (now called the PVG) was a traditional club before online clubs were commonplace

The latest official situation based on fact not speculation is that we were not granted membership at the December meeting as we didn't have systems in place. We still don't, so I didn't feel it appropriate to present in Feb.
We didn't go forward to re-apply, and therefore we are still not in. When we are ready then we'll go back.
You can claim it is because they don't want Corsas but we were told at the meeting that they do - and we are the largest club to have on-board - we just don't map particularly well to their requirements at the moment.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Yeah I agree, and I think that's what we should aim for, but I also would rather be a good web site than a poor club.
Most of the running of CS is automated as the scale of the job is far larger than the staff time available to administer it, so all payments are taken electronically, member upgrades and extensions are automated. I also wanted to program ticket stuff to bring the staff time down there but didn't have time to do that before this year so that was shelved.
Offline stuff as VBOA require and 'proper' club would command is just a commitment we can't make. You only need look at criticism that other places have come under for promising magazines, membership packs and the like and not delivering it. Looks very bad.
We decided to do what we do well. If in the future we can do the other stuff well then we'll go there but its not as simple as promising some things and sitting back while they happen. Need to ensure that we deliver, which is an entirely bigger ask.
