Hey peeps, This is on behalf of a friend, he has a Mk 3 astra and is getting crap fuel economy, it's a 1.6 8v an bought the car with a huge K&N. It's not one that should be fitted IMO, it's more of a universal one.
I told him to take it off and replace it with the standard (airbox) setup and the problem hasn't been sorted.
At the moment ur talking about maybe 20mpg and it's costing him a bomb.
Any suggestions?

possibly a fuel leak, can your mate smell petrol coming from the car
or it could be running rich, get it on a rolling road to check
probably more possiblities but thats all i can think of

doesn't seem to be running rich when Iwas with him last, could well be booting it but still, it wouldn't empty that much.
I'll have a word with him tonight
