Evening, looking for a bit on info about the above..
I've got to the stage where what I'm doing at the moment is getting me nowhere and I've had enough..
Looking at getting into the offshore business for a few reasons, mainly the whole 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, cool working environment and the moneys generally good.
I dont have any specific trade that I could use but I do have 4 highers and plenty standard grades..
Anyone do this for a living, whats available to me and how do i go about it??
Cheers

Ive got an interview coming up to get an apprenticeship offshore, passed the entry tests & ive already done my HND in Electrical Engineering!!
Theres no way you'll get a technician or craft type job without any qualifications, theres openings as Roustabouts & Deck hands (Laborours) but even there hard to get - its not easy, everyone wants to work offshore!!

Yeh I realise I wouldn't be able to go in witha skilled trade Colin, I just want to get my foot in the door so to speak..
I've got nothing keeping me here so its looking like the best option for me at the moment and think I'd actually enjoy it.

There aren't many on the platforms I've worked on, but there are some at all levels.
From my understanding its quite straight forward to get a job offshore, quite a few of my friends have walked straight into jobs with supply companies.
Off the top of my head I'd suggest contacting Expro and Gyrodata. They might not be able to offer work as core staff 2 on 2 off, but they send folk all over the world on contracts. The money isn't too bad either.

Should've been a bit clearer, I wouldnt want to go abroad, would only be looking for North Sea etc..
Any good links or that mate?

Both of those companies do work in the North Sea, its just most of my friends prefer to go abroad for more money, drinking, girls and a having a carry on
