Civil court matter, registed keeper (RK) under no obligation to say who the driver was, Just say that you are not party to the contract. If they write to the RK and ask who was driving, write back and say "sorry chaps, no idea." Untouchable unless they have your face clearly on CCTV.
Sounds right to me, going to give it ago anyway.

I assume this relies on the fact that the private company does not have the same legal power as, for example, city councils who ticket street parking?

yep, councils are dealt in the criminal court, and the registered keeper cops for the fines if no one else. The private companies are dealt through contractual law on the civil side, If they don't know who the contract is with, of which the registered keeper is not obliged to say by law, then there is nothing they can do unless they have proof who the driver was. They shouldn't really be able to get your details anyway but thats another matter, in regards to data protection and the DVLA.
Mikeef, my car recently got ticketed.
