Righto, i'm getting rid of my 200sx in a few weeks, as i'm going to need something cheaper to run to commute to work (40 miles to work). As i'm probably going to move home, i've got a driveway where I fancy getting something to work on and for the weekends.

Anyway. What half decent cars, under 1.5 for tax and insurance purposes can you recommend for £1200 ish? Must be easy enough to work on, not a Hyundai or Daewoo, must be cheap to run and get parts for? I'd like something a bit fun and not really old, if possible?

Thinks i've thought about so far are a 106 1.3 Rallye or a Corsa Sport 1.4

Realistically, I can insure pretty much anything, but as i'm probably going to use my no claims on the other car, I won't be able to use them on this car too. If its cheap to insure without using any NCB, then i'm not too bothered about it being more than a 1.5, as long as its still all of the other things.

Hadn't really thought of a diesel, as I didn't think that it would be too bad in a small engined car
