Is this by the people who said they were going to 'tune and set up the exhaust and air filter' ?

I'd take it somewhere else for a second opinion TBH.

it went for an engine service, then a rolling road tune. but he has noticed that the bottom end makes a noice when its warm (which i thought was the plastic inlet rattling. he said that the c16xe engines were recalled due to having undersized pistons and obviously mine wasnt taken in.

Look at Teddy's forsale post, his was the C16XE which was recalled due to undersized pistons being fitted

It was the C16 which suffered from that.

BUT, I'd be taking it elsewhere for a second opinion before giving anyone my money...

if they are the same people that were 'tuning' your idle speed i think theyre wiping your eye mate take it to another garage and fone vaux with your chassis number to see if it was recalled in the first place

drive it until it breaks, being on its way out could give you another 6 - 12 months.

my c16xe was on its way out for ages, still made it to 200k though
