I'm looking at doing the rear brake conversion. Also looking to buy a new air filter to replace the stock one.
I've read that going for the Astra F/A rear disks is the best option, as I have ABS, and living in Norway you really need ABS during winter time. What version of the Astra F has the most suited brakes? Also, what more do I need than all the stuff from the back the Astra? I've found some conversion kits on-line, are those necessary?
I've got a 1999 Corsa Sport 1.4 16v (X14XE). Which air filter is best suited for that engine? I've been looking at the K&N kit, but dunno if it's the best fit for that engine. I've replaced the rear bit of the exhaust, from the cat and back, with 2". Also thinking about getting rid of the catalytic converter all together. Just have to have it ok'ed with the bi-annual EU-control first. Bloody EU!
Does anyone have any experience with the X14XE and ripping out the cat? Figured I'd get some sort of "quick locking" system to put it back in whenever I need to go in for the EU-controls.
Also, looking to do something about the disks and pads in the front, but figured I don't need to go bigger just yet. Any suggestions for good pads and disks (grooved or drilled preferably, for looks).
And finally, anyone having problems with the shitty paint Opel uses? Mine is rusting like crazy on the bonnet. They use a mix of gravel and salt on winter roads, it's the worst. Thinking about getting a new paint job, as the original paint must be about the worst ever made. The colour is great looking (Arden blue), but rusts almost by looking at it.
