1.6 16v mate its the girlfriends car we are selling. wondered when the belt should be changed as its sitting on 75,000 miles but it had 60,000 when she brought it so how can i find out if its been done???

ok so it is fair to say I dont know when it might have been done as she brought the car on 60k!!! How can I find out??? Surely if its on 60k when she brought it it must have been done!!!!

omg thats dodgy i had mine done straight away when i bought mine at about 52k...id get it done mate could snap anytime..the rollers wear down.....u change the rollers and tensioner on the 16v's...seen plenty that have snapped and its a £££££ job!

I need to change mine too! The cam belt snapped on my old corsa!- and Rioverde is damm right - very pricey job too fix!

How can you tell if its wearing down or stuff??? Take it to a garage and ask?? But you so know they will just say yes it needs doing anyway to get money from ya!!!!!!!!!!!! any advice??

how much to get cam belt changed??? and tensioned?? just looking on the internet and I am finding a rough price of about 80 quid!?!?!? This sound right?

You cant really tell if the cambelt needs doing. If it was done 15k ago and your selling it then i wouldn't bother doing it. £80 sounds about right and probably about £100 for a garage to fit it roughly.

but if it helps it sell then I might aswell either just say 1400 or 1500 with cam belt changed!!!

But most people would rather pay the lowest price and think they've got a better deal. Especially if itd got another 25k left in it. If you can do it yourself then it may be worth doing.
