Just chancing it here but applied for a loan and was unsuccessful, which i though was strange after just paying off 12k finance without missing a payment.
So sent off for my credit file, it says that i owe
o2 £180 from over 3 years ago, and its showing as a defult.
They havnt contacted me for the money,i phoned them and they found my file, with the owed money, but refused to pay on the off chance that i could get away with it

It might still show up as default even if you pay up, not sure if they retrospectively wipe the record even if its made good.
That said, its getting in the way of future borrowing, you probably need to do something.

Thats my point, even if i do pay it, its still there on my file now, so will make no difference to my situation.

I had a similar issue with vodafone, they recorded the default on my file 3 days after I had settled the account, due to me being behind with payments at the time the default stood and I had to wait 6 years for it to be removed.

if you contact them you can get them to remove it as only they can remove items from your file
