Guy at work just got a brand new Astra SRi 1.6 turbo...Never even knew they existed thought you only got that in the corsa VXR and the 2.0 in the Astra? Checked on the vaux site and sure enough there it was..

Looks very nice though in red with full factory kit etc..

Wonder what the stats are like on it?

they dropped the lower powered 2.0 turbo (170 PS) for the 1.6 turbo fairly recently, it would be nice to see what its like to drive

Hard work I should imagine, when I drove the Corsa VXR the distinct lack of torque was present, in the Astra it might not be powerful enough.

One of the main reasons for the switch is due to the lower emitions of the 1.6 compared to the 2.0, keeps company car drivers happier

I remember a thread previously saying insurance group was higher than the 2.0T.

Could be wrong though.

I would prefer the 2.0 T GSi.

What are the difference between the SRi Turbo and the GSi Turbo Astra's apart from Insurance maybe

Depends on budget, if you have 9k to spend a lovely standard Astra GSi

If you have 13k to spend, a 2.0T SRi Astra H with 18 inch Pinta alloys

If you have 16k to spend a second hand VXR
