Right, i met up with a mate for a quick chat, while in the process i was testing out his brakes and they were really good, they instantly grip, where as mine kinda slowly grind to a halt, it doesnt feel like there is a tight grip on the discs.
also my brakes only get better once i have pumped the pedal a bit, and mates are really good even from cold, so i was wondering if mine need bleeding? i had them bled about 6 mnths ago, but i dont know if the guy did it properly.
my disks were changed 40k miles ago and pads changed last yr, his were changed around 4k mile ago...but i never remember my brakes to ever be that good....would it also be the size of 17's which hinder brake force? cos i dnt feel safe driving around cos the brakjes are just not up to scratch..even my dads old 14yr old cavalier 1.6 brakes were 10x better than mine
also i have noticed my brakes are really poor, until i have pumped them for a while and brake really hard a couple of times just to get them to grip, does this mean there is air in the lines?

Its possible mate, but could be more to do with the adjustment on the rears! I'm currently facing the same problem as i've just fitted V6 discs to mine tonight.
The pedal in mine werent brill with the old brakes though!!! Am gonna back the handbrake off & adjust the self adjusting (which dont that well lol) shoes next!!! Then re-set the handbrake. So maybe this would be something you could also try!

i had the rears adjusted twice, the guy said he couldnt adjust them anymore else they will touch the drum....
when i brake hard i can hear the rear drums grinding...
but im really concerned as i changed my pads only last yr and everyonces that i have tried are very good, instant grip and stop..where as mine dont feel like they grip with the same amount of force, they slowly grind to a halt, i cant ever lock up the wheels and skid so there must be something wrong
they only work after i have braked heavy on purpose a couple of times and pump the pressure up :/
might have to take it to a garage to bleed them again, even tho i had them done

Sounds lke Air in the lines. Get them bled at a decent garage. If that doesn't solve it, new pads and rear shoes +rear adjustment. Then if that doesn't fix it, it's probably a servo problem.
