hi ive recently bought an L reg SRi with the problem with a stiff 4th gear i looked into this and it was the silver pin for the gearbox mount had snapped and dropped down, i since replaced this and the box was fine i'd adjusted it according to the haynes manual, but now when in a gear you can move the lever quite vierously side to side as if something is loose the front gears seem ok but not right, the back two gears (2nd & 4th) seem really close and not far back and hard to get into, also when changin into 5th it sometimes doesnt go in and end up in 3rd, most of the time shifting into 2nd and 4th the gaiter pulls out of the center console ive adjusted it so many times everythings tight adjustment wise, but it just seems so floppy in neutral can move the lever al over the place. is it possible that where this pin had broken its caused an increased wear on the white ball joints inside the car? does this mean a whole new linkage inside the car? on some rare occasions te box will be fine but its mainly floppy any ideas what this could be?
