Girlfriend has one, they need alot of maintenance & are quite a tiring drive!!
Go for a 1275 either SPi or running a carb - later MPi's have way too many faults!!

Don't buy one with a Metro Turbo engine, but DO buy one which has no rust.

As said need looking after but treat them well and they are fine, good fun beating new minis too

as said above need alot of maintenance, i had one at 19 and it seemed to be a money pit, but looking back it was quite cheap in comparison to the money thats been thrown at my xe corsa, in terms of driving mine was a mildly tuned 1275 on a carb it went really well and was fun to drive.

iv got a wee mini 1000 and when i got it it was running on 3 cylinders
new leads dizzy cap and plugs and the wee thing runs great, starts first turn of the key and has never once let me down even though it gets driven rather hard . never needs any maintenance i only need to put in a tenner a week petrol and check the oil level once a month, simple basic and so much fun to drive and flies round corners and roundabouts like its on rails oh also good for traffic as it fits through nearly anything
pretty gay when you want a good burst of speed though
