Driving my car last night pulled out of a junction 1st 2nd went into what i thought was 3rd but it had jumped into first, bearing in mind this was under hard acceleration, now i go to go into third and my gears seem really stiff,

further down the road after not finding th and nearlly putting it into reverse the gears become really sloppy with the gearstick sitting really close to the drivers seat, i limped home and now i need to fix it to get to work this afternoon,

any help would be greatly appriecated, i know its in the wrong section but its desperate
